The Salon Presents

The Salon is our popular daytime series dedicated to presenting the best of today's literary writers in an intimate setting. Join us for a conversation with Tommy Orange, author of the highly anticipated debut novel There There. Not since Sherman Alexie's The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven and Louise Erdrich's Love Medicine has such a powerful and urgent Native American voice exploded onto the landscape of contemporary fiction. Interweaving the experiences of twelve people who gather in Oakland for a powwow, There There is a multi-generational story about violence and recovery, hope and loss.

Tickets are very limited for this event, which includes culinary delights from local purveyors.

Tommy Orange was born and raised in Oakland. He is an enrolled member of the Cheyenne and Arapaho tribes of Oklahoma and a graduate of the Institute of American Indian Arts, where he now teaches. There There is his first novel.
