Have you been wanting to celebrate Friday evening Shabbat with your family? Or have you done it many times? Either way, here is a chance to make this beautiful tradition your own.

Each family will decorate a "Shabbat in a Bag," including candleholders, challah cover, and Shabbat kiddush cup.

We'll celebrate Shabbat together with singing, dancing, and musical instruments, led by Rabbi Bridget and beloved Jewish songleader Isaac Zones, and enjoy challah, grape juice, and other Shabbat treats.

You can bring your Shabbat bag home, along with blessings, songs, and family-friendly Shabbat ideas, to create your own family traditions.

This event is part of Jewish Gateways' HandsOn Holidays series for children 1-5 and their grownups. Older siblings and babies are also welcome.

Enjoy the participatory, small group setting, which offers the beauty of a havurah (friendship group) with the flexibility and diversity that's right for modern families.

All are welcome, including interfaith, LGBTQ, and adoptive families; single parents; and grandparents. No Jewish knowledge or experience is necessary. Feel free to invite friends who might be interested!

Please consider helping local homeless youth by bringing nutrition bars, cold cereal, or new adult socks to donate to YEAH!, Berkeley's shelter for youth engagement, advocacy, and housing.

Presented in collaboration with Sprout and PJ Library.
